If you are anything like this blog writer, January will involve time spent dreaming of summer sun.  So if you pick up travel brochures, make sure you put them into the confidential waste sack instead of the normal bin……..even though the paper from brochures is coated, it is still recyclable and can still be added to normal paper for shredding and producing paper towels.

This is my favourite line of the carol.  Why?  Well this blog writer (female) was a maid-a-milking in junior school and I absolutely loved my costume, frilly hat and apron.  Happy days!

Today seems to be Christmas Party day for many firms, so if you are looking at your Linked In before heading off to your meal, have a great Christmas Party!  For just this occasion we have posted a Christmas photo from us, wearing our branded jackets (like the segue?!) and wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

This lyric was provided by Lucy, 16, who took her earphones off for a minute to contribute to our project.  And it’s a good one, not only because it fits to the music, but also because it’s such a core part of our business.  In November alone we did huge clear-outs for four businesses; we took our mobile shredding lorry onto two sites and were able to shred there and then, and when access and site traffic was too busy, we took our lovely Taclus vans along, loaded them up and took the paper back to Taclus HQ to shred.  Both ways, the customer was able to get rid of large volumes of confidential waste in a secure way for an excellent price.

If you have large volumes of paper to get rid of, contact us.

C’mon!  The best line yet!  And everybody’s favourite line in the carol when you can really sing your heart out!

Whilst many of our customers have consoles in the office that match their office furniture, we can also provide outdoor, lockable bins for large volumes of confidential waste.  And that doesn’t just mean paper.  We have a couple of customers that use these bins for disposable clothing which we collect weekly.

So, as you are humming this song today, consider whether your firm would benefit from large storage bins as well as your inside consoles….and if the answer is yes, contact us and we’ll get you kitted out.

This lyric from Dave again (who over-ruled Three French Dictionaries, which this blog writer thought was much better).

For many businesses the end of the tax year can result in stacks of confidential financial information piled up in back rooms and storage areas. After the required retention periods have passed, these boxes of files could leave you vulnerable to a security breach.

A new financial year is a perfect time for businesses and individuals to review their paperwork from the previous year and decide whether documents need to be stored or destroyed. Any documents that are no longer required, must be securely disposed of and documents that are needed can either be stored at the office, digitally or off-site in secure storage.

We have several accountancy firm customers with some lovely testimonials to read about the value we have been able to add to their business.

“On the First Shred of Christmas my client gave to me….a hard drive from a PC”

Taclus is a family firm and these lyrics really have been a group effort.  Number 1 comes from Dave, the boss.

Confidential waste isn’t just about shredding paper, we shred hard drives, CDs and DVDs too.  Only physical destruction is 100% effective and complies with WEEE disposal regulations.

And what about the song itself?  It was first published in 1780 and is traditionally about the twelve days of Christmas BEGINNING on Christmas Day.  This has morphed into a song for the run up to Christmas now and we have butchered it even more here……I can’t promise we’ll be singing it round the piano, but I’ve definitely been humming it in my head for a week!

If you have been thinking about employing a shredding service, but haven’t quite got round to it yet, now is an excellent time of year to sort it out…..then you can start the new year in an organised and efficient way….what’s not to love?! Contact us now for a quote.

Isn’t it time you thought about Christmas?

You may not want to admit it, but now’s the time when businesses should be gearing up for their Christmas marketing.

We know, the children have only just gone back to school and we mentioned the C-word!

It has to be done, though. You’ll need a decent lead-in time to write the content for, design, and print your brochures, flyers, catalogues, and posters, and refresh any branding you have.

The last thing you want is summer leaflets hanging around long after the sun has gone.

If you’re revamping your branding, you’ll also want to ensure the new image isn’t diluted by old branded items such as letterheads, business cards, brochures, menus, flyers, and uniforms.

Here are 4 useful ways a professional shredding company can get your business ready for that Christmas push…

  1. 1. Shred your old marketing material securely – to ensure you have the space for your new campaign, and to ensure the old messages are not still getting out there. This is particularly useful for the hospitality and retail sectors, where offers change with the season and what works in summer most definitely doesn’t in the autumn and winter.
  2. Destroy any old branded items – including branded USB sticks and other media, and uniforms. If you’re changing your branding, you don’t want people holding on to the old brand. It also affects your security as a business. What if the wrong people got hold of your staff uniforms and used them to con your customers, for example? Getting them shredded ensures this can’t happen.
  3. Shred old staff documents – clearing space for any documents you may need when you take on temporary staff in the run-up to Christmas. With the new, strict rules on data handling brought in by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), handling personal data such as names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, and bank account numbers is in the spotlight. It must be done correctly, or in the most serious cases, businesses risk a fine of 20 million euros or 4% of their annual worldwide turn-over, whichever is higher. Getting an audit chain and a certificate of destruction from a shredding company which upholds the highest standards helps ensure you stay on the right side of the rules.
  4. Destroy old customer records and correspondence – make space for Christmas stock and records from new customers. Ensure your customers’ personal data remains secure by using a company where staff are checked, such as Taclus Confidential, and where you can prove an audit chain if there is an investigation. Your business reputation is precious, so take care of it.
