Contract negotiations, marked-up documents, data processing agreements and all sorts of other legal files can amount to a really huge pile of paper.  We have several legal firms on our client list who have used us for large clear-outs, as well as weekly collections.  Do contact us if you would like to find out about our service.

This is my favourite line of the carol.  Why?  Well this blog writer (female) was a maid-a-milking in junior school and I absolutely loved my costume, frilly hat and apron.  Happy days!

Today seems to be Christmas Party day for many firms, so if you are looking at your Linked In before heading off to your meal, have a great Christmas Party!  For just this occasion we have posted a Christmas photo from us, wearing our branded jackets (like the segue?!) and wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Branded product destruction is as important as paper when it comes to confidential waste management.  We can collect pull-up banners and destroy these in the same way as we can collect paper.  And all the metal parts that can’t be shredded go to metal recycling, in line with our 0% landfill policy.

It’s at this part of the carol that singers start mixing up the lyrics……not us! I’m even trying to persuade everyone to do a recorded version……although that isn’t being greeted with universal agreement just yet……maybe next year?!

On the Sixth Shred of Christmas my client gave to me……

……Six Tonnes of Paper

……Five Storage Bins

…..Four calling cards

…..Three Year Ends

…..two purple books

….And a hard drive from a PC!

This lyric was provided by Lucy, 16, who took her earphones off for a minute to contribute to our project.  And it’s a good one, not only because it fits to the music, but also because it’s such a core part of our business.  In November alone we did huge clear-outs for four businesses; we took our mobile shredding lorry onto two sites and were able to shred there and then, and when access and site traffic was too busy, we took our lovely Taclus vans along, loaded them up and took the paper back to Taclus HQ to shred.  Both ways, the customer was able to get rid of large volumes of confidential waste in a secure way for an excellent price.

If you have large volumes of paper to get rid of, contact us.

……FIVE STORAGE BINS!!!!!

…..Four calling cards

…..Three Year Ends

…..two purple books

….And a hard drive from a PC!

C’mon!  The best line yet!  And everybody’s favourite line in the carol when you can really sing your heart out!

Whilst many of our customers have consoles in the office that match their office furniture, we can also provide outdoor, lockable bins for large volumes of confidential waste.  And that doesn’t just mean paper.  We have a couple of customers that use these bins for disposable clothing which we collect weekly.

So, as you are humming this song today, consider whether your firm would benefit from large storage bins as well as your inside consoles….and if the answer is yes, contact us and we’ll get you kitted out.

On the Fourth Shred of Christmas my client gave to me…….

…..Four calling cards

…..Three Year Ends

…..two purple books

….and a hard drive from a PC

The best line yet?  Yup, contributed by Megan….but just wait for Five…..she made that one up too!

At this time of year, people often decide to spend a day de-toxing the office.  This activity enables people to be productive and efficient without having to use 100% of their brain power – perfect for the Christmas season.  So if you are rooting through your desk and you find piles of unused business cards (or calling cards), or headed paper etc, remember that these branded products contain confidential information and could result in a data breach.  Don’t bin it, put it in your confidential waste bag or console…….if you don’t have one?  Contact us….we pride ourselves on excellent customer service and can confidently say we are the best shredding company in Wales and the South West!

On the Third Shred of Christmas my client sent to me……

On the Third Shred of Christmas my client gave to me

……Three Year Ends

…..two purple books

….and a hard drive from a PC

This lyric from Dave again (who over-ruled Three French Dictionaries, which this blog writer thought was much better).

For many businesses the end of the tax year can result in stacks of confidential financial information piled up in back rooms and storage areas. After the required retention periods have passed, these boxes of files could leave you vulnerable to a security breach.

A new financial year is a perfect time for businesses and individuals to review their paperwork from the previous year and decide whether documents need to be stored or destroyed. Any documents that are no longer required, must be securely disposed of and documents that are needed can either be stored at the office, digitally or off-site in secure storage.

We have several accountancy firm customers with some lovely testimonials to read about the value we have been able to add to their business.

“On the First Shred of Christmas my client gave to me….a hard drive from a PC”

Taclus is a family firm and these lyrics really have been a group effort.  Number 1 comes from Dave, the boss.

Confidential waste isn’t just about shredding paper, we shred hard drives, CDs and DVDs too.  Only physical destruction is 100% effective and complies with WEEE disposal regulations.

And what about the song itself?  It was first published in 1780 and is traditionally about the twelve days of Christmas BEGINNING on Christmas Day.  This has morphed into a song for the run up to Christmas now and we have butchered it even more here……I can’t promise we’ll be singing it round the piano, but I’ve definitely been humming it in my head for a week!

If you have been thinking about employing a shredding service, but haven’t quite got round to it yet, now is an excellent time of year to sort it out…..then you can start the new year in an organised and efficient way….what’s not to love?! Contact us now for a quote.

What should my business look for in professional shredding companies?

Outsourcing the destruction of your confidential documents can be liberating – it’s great getting organised and freeing up staff time. But how do you choose the right service from among the many professional shredding companies?

There are six key questions you could be asking to ensure you get the best security and excellent service.

When you’re comparing professional shredding companies, ask:

  1. Are you accredited?

Good companies will hold independently-verified accreditations which show their commitment to the environment, sustainability, and the quality of their service.

These accreditations show they are fulfilling their obligations to the environment and to their customers.

  1. Do you send anything to landfill?

The best companies will have a zero landfill policy – just as we do at Taclus. This is not only to protect the environment and boost recycling rates in the UK. It also helps ensure the security of your documents and equipment. The recycling process means that documents cannot be reconstituted, for example.

  1. Do you shred on a secure site?

If the company’s site is secure, that gives you peace of mind that your confidential data will not be stolen from it.

  1. Do you offer off-site shredding?

For the most sensitive documents, you may wish a shredding company to come to your site and shred the items in front of you, so that you can see the process is secure for yourselves.

This is useful for businesses where there is a lot of confidential data such as law firms, care homes, and accountants.

  1. Are your staff vetted?

If the staff face checks on their histories, this gives you greater peace of mind that your confidential waste will not be handled by criminals.

  1. Do you provide certificates of destruction?

This gives you an audit trail for confidential waste destruction. Should something go wrong, and you face an investigation for a data breach, this helps prove your processes are secure.

What else could help me choose among the professional shredding companies?

Look for customer reviews and testimonials to see how they rate the service.

There are independent review sites, Google reviews, and reviews on Facebook which could help you.

Look for testimonials from your industry or a similar sized business to yours.
